A Long-Awaited Arrival

In late 2022, I received an unexpected email from a researcher at Missionit, a South Korean design and research company dedicated to building a more inclusive society through design thinking. They were working on an upcoming issue of MSV Magazine, an architectural publication focused on safety and design in learning environments. To my surprise and excitement, they had been referred to me by Mahlum Architects and wanted permission to feature a couple of my photographs alongside their interview with architect Rene Berndt.

Seeing the quality of their past work, I was more than eager to be part of it. I requested a copy in exchange for the photos, and then—came the wait. A year and a half later, the magazine finally arrived. Not only did they send the issue, but they also included a branded carpenters pencil—a small yet thoughtful gesture that made the experience even more special.

There’s something surreal about receiving a physical artifact from the other side of the world, knowing that my creative work had, in some way, merged with a larger collective effort. Holding the magazine in my hands, flipping through the pages where my photography sits alongside discussions on safety, architecture, and design, felt like a milestone worth recording.

I don’t know if Mahlum has seen this yet, but I wanted to share the moment—for myself, as part of the journey, and for anyone who finds it as interesting as I did.
